Sometimes you can become so familiar with a Bible passage that you never stop and really ponder its beauty. This morning I woke up with a heavy heart. After the kids were dressed and we sat down for breakfast I began reading Jesus Calling and knew it was for me.
“Remember that the devil is the father of lies. He likes to sneak into your thoughts and whisper lies to you. One of his favorites is to tell you that I don’t really love you unconditionally. Satan wants you to believe that you have to be good enough to be loved. If you make one little mistake – if you even think about a sin – then surely I won’t love you anymore. That is a lie. I love you no matter what.”
“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow – not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below – indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
Let that soak in today. You’re unconditionally loved. You don’t have to perform for God. He’s never going to walk away and reject you. His love for you is eternal and unchanging.
