Birthday Traditions

This week we celebrated 2 birthdays- Kate and Mike’s. It was definitely the highlight of my week. Sometimes life is so busy that I think I forget to slow down and just enjoy my family. Saturday through Tuesday was a wonderful four days of being together and enjoying family  time.

One of the things I love doing for my kids is investing a little extra time in trying to make their birthdays a special celebration. While we do not always have big parties, I do try to make the day memorable. One of the simple things I love to do is make a big birthday breakfast. Ok, nothing is truly simple when you have kids but…it’s one of my less complicated ideas and feels doable at this stage of life. My mom did this when I was growing up and I love continuing this tradition in my own family.

Monday I cooked bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and a raspberry puffy oven pancake for Kates birthday. Tuesday we enjoyed chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, and bacon for Mike’s birthday. It may not be anything fancy, but it is a simple family tradition that I love.

How do you celebrate birthdays in  your family?
