Happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a good start. We had one child with a 24-hour fever this weekend, but other than that it was very productive and we enjoyed some sweet family time too.
When I set goals I often think of the big things and forget how much the small steps add up and make a difference. This week I have three simple goals:
Sleep As Much As Possible. Yes, sleeping is one of my main goals and I don’t care if it sounds pathetic. I am a totally different person when I have at least 7 hours per night. Most of my goals at this point in life revolve around taking care of my family or myself. Prioritizing my sleep is not only about self-care. I am a complete ogre when I’m exhausted, so this goal is for the good of everyone who comes in contact with me. This week I plan to be in bed by 9:00 – 9:30 every night.
Rise Early. This is a busy week for our family and I am a much nicer person if I have even 30 minutes of time to read, sip coffee and not have anyone need me. I would like to be awake by 5. This morning it was more like 5:15ish (I love the snooze button), but I was up in time to enjoy my Bible study, a couple cups of coffee, unload the dishwasher and prepare breakfast.
Read More. I have always loved reading and usually find it very relaxing. So far I have managed to read about a book a week this year. This week I’m reading Dear Mr. Knightley by Katherine Reay. Time to read will be limited this week since we are preparing for our annual Easter party, but I plan to read as much as my schedule allows.
If I am not careful I can become overwhelmed by setting way too many goals for the week and then feel frustrated when I see how little I’m accomplishing. Somehow, in the midst of setting goals, I often forget that there are only 24 hours in a day and my name is not Wonder Woman. So here’s to a week of accomplishing simple goals!
