The Two Things That Help Me Achieve My Goals

I just spent an hour writing a post on goal setting that was, in my opinion, epic. 

Alright. Perhaps it wasn’t epic. But it was good and shared two things that help me set and actually achieve goals for the year. I spent a long time editing. And in the blink of an eye (or, in this case, the click of a mouse) it was gone.

And I felt like giving up. In fact, my first thought was, “FINE. I’ll just go enjoy a glass of wine and watch a movie. I GIVE UP!”

But then I remembered…goals…growth…choose to respond with grace, etc.

So here is the main thing I was going to say before my 565 words disappeared:

Set your goals, but really ponder your why. What is motivating the goal? Ask God to show you what truly motivates your heart.

Determine how you are going to achieve your goals. Read Gretchen Rubin’s book The Four Tendencies. It will change your world. Learn to work within your own personality. Don’t try to be someone else – be YOU.

January always feels like a time to take stock. A time to determine what is working and what isn’t. I am so grateful for the collective pause and the time to truly consider where I want to be next year. I’ve been working on my 2018 goals today and am excited about all this year holds.
